"Richard Misiano-Genovese finds inspiration in the erotic. But his presentation of the erotic, far from signaling mere voyeurism, exposes layers of possible meaning. In the process of “excavation” that produces some of his most intriguing collages, pictures are glued together in layers and then pieces are torn away at random, revealing an underlying image. The principle of unexpected juxtaposition here takes a particularly violent turn, as the viewer’s eye is drawn for instance, in “Spinning Mill of Nocturnal Repose,” to the jagged edges that separate the coy smile of a Playboy bunny from the grimace of a mummified skull".
Dr. Melanie Nicholson (2015)
